Driving Towards a Greener Future
Our Commitment to Fleet Electrification and Sustainability
Why We’re Going Electric
The transportation industry is evolving, and we’re committed to leading that change. Moving to electric trucks allows us to reduce emissions, improve efficiency, and support customers who are working toward more sustainable supply chains.
Because much of our work is local drayage around the Port of Vancouver, electric trucks are well suited to our routes and daily operations.
Our Progress
Our electrification journey began in 2024 with the installation of heavy-duty EV charging infrastructure at our Langley yard. Shortly after, we introduced our first battery-electric Class 8 truck.
Today, we operate 8 electric Volvo VNR trucks in our local drayage fleet, making R.R. Plett one of the few operators in Western Canada actively running zero-emission heavy-duty trucks.
We continue to work with energy consultants and government partners to maximize incentives and explore battery storage solutions that support future fleet growth.
The Road Ahead
Our goal is to transition a significant portion of our fleet to zero-emission vehicles over the next decade. By 2030, we aim to operate a fully electric local drayage fleet, while expanding charging infrastructure and evaluating new technologies to support long-term growth.
Benefits for Our Customers
Electric trucking helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions, lower noise and air pollution, and create more stable operating costs compared to diesel.
For our customers, this means cleaner freight movement and measurable progress toward sustainability and ESG goals.
Let’s Collaborate
We’re always open to working with customers and partners who want to advance cleaner freight solutions. If you're interested in reducing your supply chain emissions, we’d welcome the opportunity to collaborate.
